- What is the main goal for this project?

The Progressive Centre is a tutoring agency based in Durham Region, ON. It provides 1-on-1 or group tutoring for students in grades 1-12. The Progressive Centre only works with math and science and the majority of our clients are high school students. Our aim for this project to increase our presence online by revamping our currently website that is hosted on Go Daddy. We ultimately would like to move over to a Word Press site.
We would like to work with students to develop a new website that is easy to maintain while providing an appealing interface for potential clients. We ultimately would like to move over from GoDaddy to a Word Press site.
This will involve several different steps for the students, including:
- Researching different companies and making recommendations on others how our our website can be improved
- site-building tools on Wordpress and their associated advantages / disadvantages.
- Conducting a needs analysis to determine which Wordpress themes/plugins is most suitable.
- Building a website, with our assistance in providing the content
- Providing company owner training on updating and maintaining the website.
Bonus steps in the process would also include:
- Rewriting website copy with a focus on SEO
- Providing a competitive analysis of how our company is doing compared to others in the same industry.
- What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

By the end of the project, students should demonstrate:
- Understand how to complete competitive analysis' and use that information to create a new website
- Use of digital marketing in creation of a website
- Understanding of website platform options including templates, plugins on Wordpress
- Identification of the most suitable platform/templates on Wordpress
- Development of a website using the most suitable template/themes/plugins
- Recommendations for website maintenance
Bonus steps would include:
- Testing the website with users and making improvements based on user input

Students will connect directly with us for mentorship throughout the project. We will be able to provide answers to questions such as:
- Our services and website design
- Our customer and industry insights
- Input on choices, problems or anything else the students might encounter.

- What skills or technologies will help learners to complete the project?

In order to complete this project, students can self-teach, but it is beneficial to be familiar with:
- Website builders (Wordpress - themes/plugins etc)
- UI / UX design principles
- Copywriting principles
