Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

Our company is developing crop disease testing devices for farmers and agronomists. With our prototype development nearing completion, we are looking to optimize the electronic schematics of our device to ensure it is robust and effective in diverse agricultural environments.

Students will engage in a detailed and hands-on hardware development process under the mentorship of PathoScan’s scientific lead. Their tasks will include:

  • Learn and analyze PathoScan's hardware schematics for design effectiveness.
  • Convert digital schematics into a physical prototype of the PathoBox device.
  • Conduct testing on the prototype and identify areas for refinement.
  • Present a final report and prototype demonstration to PathoScan founders.
What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

By the end of the project, the final deliverables will include:

  • A working prototype of the PathoBox device.
  • A summarized report on the work completed, testing outcomes and future directions.
How will you support learners in completing the project?

PathoScan founders will work closely with the student to ensure that the project is sufficiently supported. PathoScan intends to have meetings with the student twice weekly to ensure that the student is supported and that the project remains on track. The student will be added to the PathoScan internal communication channels (Slack) and can reach out to the team whenever they need.

We are happy to provide guidance to the student for any obstacles that may arise.

About the company

PathoScan is a startup focused on revolutionizing agricultural practices with its innovative crop disease detection device. By allowing on-site and immediate identification of diseases, the device eliminates the need for centralized lab facilities and the associated delays. This transformative approach not only reduces costs but also empowers farmers with timely decision-making tools to ensure optimal crop health.
