Project scope
- What is the main goal for this project?
-
Ribbit is a cargo airline startup that uses self-flying planes to serve hard-to-reach areas. We are currently focused on food logistics to remote regions of northern Canada while simultaneously evaluating potential customers to non-food domestic markets, Canadian government, and international markets.
This project will involve several different steps for the students, such as:
- Researching target markets in both private and public sectors, in Canada and abroad
- Developing a spreadsheet to generate and track potential leads in these markets
- Developing interview guidelines for conducting customer and market research
- Analyzing primary feedback and secondary market data to inform market expansion strategy
- What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?
-
By the end of the project, students should have acquired and/or practiced essential skills in business strategy, business development, finance and operations, and market analysis. Final deliverables should include:
- A spreadsheet or similar tool summarizing potential markets and leads, for use in continued customer and market discovery efforts
- An interview guideline for conducting semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders in new markets

- How will you support learners in completing the project?
-
Students will connect directly with us for mentorship throughout the project. We will be able to provide answers to questions such as:

- Who are our largest competitors? What products/services do they provide that are similar to ours?
- Input on choices, problems or anything else the students might encounter.
- What skills or technologies will help learners to complete the project?
-
To complete this project, students must have:
- Outstanding people and interpersonal skills
- Basic knowledge and intuition on finance and operations
- Basic spreadsheet skills (e.g. Excel, Google)
- Strong time management skills
- Strong self-organization/independence
The following would be considered strong assets:
- Experience in technical sales, systems engineering, and/or aviation regulations
