Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

The main objective of this project is to produce a well-researched and well-written post for College of the Rockies' blog on your choice of topic within the subject matter. The blog post should be between 500 and 1000 words and should include at least one quality image that clearly depicts what you're wanting to show.

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?
  • Research your subject well to ensure accuracy
  • Ensure the post is grammatically correct, with correct spelling, punctuation, etc. If you are unsure, the Writing Lab can assist, or you can have someone read over your first draft.
  • The blog will be seen by individuals with no knowledge of your subject matter. Ensure it is written in plain language, without jargon. I recommend doing a little bit of research into how to ensure your blog post is readable (layout, word choice, length, etc.)
  • Whenever you have questions while working on your blog, feel free to send me a message. I will reply as quickly as possible.
How will you support learners in completing the project?

If I can provide any assistance during the process of creating your blog post, please feel free to reach out.

What skills or technologies will help learners to complete the project?

Writing skills: The most important part of a blog is likely readability. No matter how exciting the topic, if it is poorly written, hard to follow, or looks unappealing (i.e., just a giant wall of text), you will lose readers. Tips for blog writing are easily found via a simple Google search, so I would recommend doing so.

Audience Identification: The subject matter, of course, is the other highly important feature of the blog. Define who your audience is and choose a topic based on what that audience would find interesting. The more unique your topic, or your take on a topic, the more compelling it will be to your readers.

Research: Research your topic and blog best practices thoroughly. If you need assistance or have a question, reach out.
