Criminal Justice Studies Internship
In order to qualify as an appropriate placement for a student, the industry partner must be able to outline the duties/project for which the student is responsible. Such duties should include components of decision making and responsibility for specific tasks and should have direct relevance to the principal purposes of the organization. Mere opportunity to observe the activities of the agency, although having value, does not qualify as an appropriate internship experience.
Social Work Field Practicum
Bring on one or more students from The University of North Dakota in the Social Work Department to be your virtual interns, in a project-based experience. Students will work on one or more projects of your choosing over the internship period, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools. Students are available for 200-250 hours of unpaid, for credit, placement from March 1 to May 14, 2021, . Due to COVID-19 restrictions, student placements will only occur virtually.We are looking for placement sites where students can apply in practice the concepts and theories learned in the classroom. The students have learned in the classroom about many aspects of generalist social work practice, including interpersonal skills, counseling, group facilitation, and case management. Please note that all of our students will have a background check completed.

Are you a small to mid-sized retailer looking to refresh your current strategy? Students will work in groups throughout the semester on a challenge you provide them. Along the way, they could gather primary data from your customers and collate secondary data about your industry, analyze the data and then develop a strategic retailing plan along with actionable insights.

CE 482: Civil Engineering Design I (Fall 2022):This comprehensive design course integrates engineering design and engineering science components of previous and ongoing coursework into a significant design experience. Course activities include defining the problem, formulating project objectives, gathering background information, scheduling the project, applying design standards and realistic constraints, developing design alternatives, and evaluating design alternatives. Other topics covered include project management, effective team-working, professional ethics, and applications of graphical communication. Group design reports and individual oral presentations are required.CE 483: Civil Engineering Design II (Spring 2023):This comprehensive design course integrates engineering design and engineering science components of previous and ongoing coursework into a significant design experience.
Structural Stability

Students will work on design, finite element modelling, analysis of thin-walled metallic structures such as liquid-filled storage thanks subjected to severe environmental (seismic, tsunami, tornado) loading. Structural stability issues including interaction of local and overall flexural buckling will be analyzed and buckling mitigation strategies will be developed to enhance strength and ductility of such structural systems.

In this course, students utilize their understanding of user interface strategies, web design, and content management to develop a WordPress theme for your organization. Developing a Wordpress theme allows you to have a custom website that you can maintain and further develop in the future. After an initial consultation, the students will create an interface proposal and basic prototype for your approval using your provided logo and style guidelines. This will consist of 3 page themes including a landing page, a basic page template, and about/contact page.

Students will work on design projects related to structural engineering and structural mechanics. Structures such as buildings, dams, chimneys, bridges, wind turbine towers, pipelines, rail roads, etc. to withstand variety of load cases including earthquake, wind, and waves.
