- What is the main goal for this project?

Over a three-month (minimum) remote internship, you will improve your skills, and add more experience to your CV. These are some of the skills you will gain plenty of practice in:
- Translation into your native language (native speakers of English, French or German)
- Desktop publishing (InDesign and more)
- The use of CAT tools (e.g. memoQ, Trados)
- WordPress and Office software
- The creation, use and maintenance of glossaries
- Linguistic review and proofreading
In addition, you will also gain experience in the following ways and areas:
- Direct access to management
- (Account Managers, founders and CEO)
- Working as part of a team
- Project Management
- Client liaison
- Sales
- Office administration and workflows
The entire Quicksilver team will be working from home for the foreseeable future, so interns can come and live in Barcelona or carry out the internship from home (online).

- Translation (primarily ES/EN > EN/FR/DE/PT) using memoQ
- English-language editing, specialized in academic editing (copyediting and proofreading)
- Applying style guides to texts (The Chicago Manual of Style, APA, AMA, European Commission, etc.)
- Quality assurance
- Extracting text from websites for quoting/translation
- Converting PDF files to editable formats and cleaning them up for translation
- Getting involved in linguistic projects for a wide variety of clients and industries (academic, travel & tourism, food, cosmetics, medical/pharmaceutical, legal, financial, etc.)
- Creating, editing, and manipulating translation memories and term bases
- Some interaction with clients
- Basic database management (data input and enrichment)
- Editing and adding to the company’s internal procedure handbook
- Writing for the company’s blog
- Helping select new providers
- Contacting universities for future interns

- How will you support learners in completing the project?

You will have direct access to management (Account Managers, founders and CEO), who will help you develop your skills and gain experience in translation, use of CAT tools (memoQ), use of project management tools, and many other areas.
- What skills or technologies will help learners to complete the project?
-
Candidates must:
- be native speakers of English, French, German or Portuguese
- be near-native speakers of English and Spanish (if not native)
- be available for a minimum of 3 months, full-time (8 hours per day)
- be available for a short chat/interview with management
- have their own PC (not Mac as it is not compatible with our translation software)
- have broadband access to the internet
- have Skype installed on their computer, as this is our main communication channel
Other requirements:
- experience with memoQ or similar
- ability to work well under pressure and on tight deadlines
- strong communication and presentation skills (written and oral)
- advanced knowledge of Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel)
- experience in the industry a plus
- other languages a plus
- knowledge of InDesign, Adobe Illustrator and Wordpress also a plus
