The project seeks to address the growing need for mental health awareness and support within families, particularly focusing on the unique dynamics between mothers and daughters. The goal is to create an engaging, informative, and supportive workshop that fosters open communication and understanding of mental health issues. This project will allow learners to apply their knowledge of psychology, education, and community engagement to develop a comprehensive workshop plan. The tasks include researching mental health topics relevant to the target audience, designing interactive activities, and creating educational materials. The project is designed to be completed by nursing, psychology or social work students, ensuring that the team shares a common skill set and understanding of the subject matter.
We are looking to design a handful of community mental health educational workshops that can be used to present in person or downloaded online for women and girls.
Women's and girls' health is a vital aspect of community well-being, and understanding the challenges they face is a step toward empowerment and equality. By recognizing these challenges, we can uplift each other, foster understanding, and work toward a brighter, healthier future for all. Here are ten prevalent disorders that affect women and girls. We are looking to create workshops with slides that explain each diagnosis as well as provide tips and tools for managing the diagnosis + how to get help and support. Each workshop will have a summary slide and a resource slide.
- Anxiety Disorders
Many women and girls experience anxiety, but with support and resources, they can find peace and resilience. Together, we can create a world where mental health is prioritized and understood.
- Depression
Depression affects countless individuals, yet through community support and self-care, women and girls can rise above and rediscover joy and purpose. Let's advocate for mental health awareness and break the stigma together.
- Eating Disorders
These disorders often stem from societal pressures, but by embracing body positivity and self-love, women and girls can overcome and thrive. We have the power to redefine beauty standards, celebrating every unique self.
- Body Image Disorder
Body image disorder can lead to negative self-perception and impact mental health significantly. By promoting self-acceptance and challenging societal norms, we can empower women and girls to develop a healthy relationship with their bodies and foster confidence.
- Heart Disease
A leading cause of death among women, yet preventable and manageable with lifestyle changes and medical care. Empowerment lies in education, and together we can promote heart health and longevity.
- ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder)
Women and girls with ADHD often face unique challenges, but with proper understanding and support, they can harness their strengths and thrive in various aspects of life. Advocacy and awareness are key to fostering acceptance and success.
- Autism Spectrum Disorder
The autism spectrum encompasses a diverse range of experiences and challenges. By promoting understanding and inclusion, we can empower women and girls on the spectrum to embrace their individuality and contribute meaningfully to society.
- Addiction
Addiction can affect anyone, but women and girls may face distinctive challenges in their journey toward recovery. By fostering supportive communities and promoting access to treatment, we can help individuals reclaim their lives and find strength in healing. Together, we can break the chains of addiction and build a future filled with hope and resilience.
- Cancer
Sharing knowledge in specific technical skills, techniques, methodologies required for the project.

About the company
Who we are: We are Mother Daughter Empower a Canadian Charity on a mission to EMPOWER the next generation of young girls! We believe that all women and girls should have the confidence to be who they are and become anything they want to be. Did you know that by age 14 a girl’s confidence will decrease 30% in comparison to boys of the same age? At Mother Daughter Empower, we want to change that statistic! We believe that all women and girls should have equal access to personal development and growth mindset education that will empower them to develop the confidence they need to set big goals, follow their dreams and reach their full potential.
