What is the main goal for this project?

Cross border payments and currency exchange for business organizations is a very old industry, dominated by large banks and currency dealers / fx brokerages. It continues to work on archaic systems, predatory pricing and a hybrid online/offline infrastructure.


Truly Financial is a business banking startup that provides global banking and cross-border payments. We plan to introduce a new product for mid size companies who are dealing with traditional fx brokerages, and would like to undertake a market study of competition, customer behaviour and opportunity sizing for a new product we want to introduce - something which has never been done in the Canadian and U.S. markets.

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?
  1. Study the competitive landscape in Canada and in the U.S.
  2. Find 10-20 ideal companies who fit the customer profile and interview them to understand their needs and behaviour
  3. Understand and document the customer pain points, and discuss with us how it may be solved
  4. Create a positioning and pricing strategy for Truly Financial to introduce this new product

How will you support learners in completing the project?

Meeting with leadership team, access to competitor information, background reading on business banking, access to digital tools and software as needed.
