Details

The HIPAA Compliance Audit Simulation Project is designed to help curaJOY proactively assess its adherence to HIPAA regulations. By simulating an official audit, the project aims to identify compliance gaps across administrative, physical, and technical safeguards. This simulation will test the organization's readiness for an actual OCR (Office for Civil Rights) audit, ensuring that the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Protected Health Information (PHI) are maintained. Additionally, the project seeks to promote a culture of compliance among staff through practical audit engagement. The ultimate goal is to provide actionable insights and a clear remediation roadmap to achieve full HIPAA compliance, thereby safeguarding sensitive health information and enhancing organizational trust.

Deliverables

Learners participating in the HIPAA Compliance Audit Simulation are expected to actively engage in all stages of the project. They must demonstrate a clear understanding of HIPAA regulations, including the Privacy, Security, and Breach Notification Rules. Participants will review and assess organizational policies and procedures, complete HIPAA training modules, and take part in simulated audit interviews. They are responsible for identifying risks in their departments, ensuring the proper handling of Protected Health Information (PHI), and validating the implementation of technical, physical, and administrative safeguards. Learners will also participate in mock breach response drills, documenting actions taken in line with incident response protocols. By the end of the simulation, each learner should be able to identify compliance gaps, recommend improvements, and reflect on their role in maintaining HIPAA compliance. Their performance and participation will contribute to a comprehensive evaluation of the organization’s readiness for a real HIPAA audit.
