About SaveForward So many of us wish we could afford to make more of a difference and don't believe our donations are being used efficiently anyways. What if we spent a little less here and there to empower another person directly? The SaveForward app helps you spend less on guilty purchases and puts a portion of the savings toward empowering someone else. When you avoid a purchase, tap it in the app to immediately put the money away so you can't spend it. When you've hit your goal, you can choose someone living in an underbanked region of the world to empower with a life-changing loan. Borrowers use the funds to start a business or go to school, and create a better future for themselves. When the loan is repaid, you can re-lend it or add it to your own savings. Not an impulse spender? Set a monthly amount to contribute instead. Gone over budget this month? No problem! You can lower or cancel your contribution anytime. The Project The primary focus for the student will be: Implement end-to-end mobile and backend platforms using React Native and Node JS . Our goal at the end of this experience is: For the students to create a fully functioning application. For students to gain experience in developing a RESTFul API and platform. About SaveForward The SaveForward app helps socially-conscious millennials to save money and put a portion of their savings toward a microfinance loan. These loans empower underbanked individuals to start a business, expand their farm, or go to school, and ultimately lift themselves out of poverty. SaveForward users get to see the direct difference they make in someone’s life, without going over budget. SaveForward is a startup, backed by the MaRS Start Program and the Metaii Accelerator Program. Mission: Motivate people to create financial opportunities for underbanked individuals around the world. The Project The primary focus for the student will be: Implement end-to-end mobile web platforms using React, Java Script, and Node JS . We are now looking to bring this into a responsive website, so people can log in or contribute directly in their browser.
