About SaveForward
The SaveForward app helps socially-conscious millennials to save money and put a portion of their savings toward a microfinance loan. These loans empower underbanked individuals to start a business, expand their farm, or go to school, and ultimately lift themselves out of poverty. SaveForward users get to see the direct difference they make in someone’s life, without going over budget.
SaveForward is a startup, backed by the MaRS Start Program and the Metaii Accelerator Program.
Mission: Motivate people to create financial opportunities for underbanked individuals around the world.
The Project
The primary focus for the student will be:
- Implement end-to-end mobile web platforms using React, Java Script, and Node JS.
Our goal at the end of this experience is:
- For the students to create a fully functioning web application.
- For students to gain experience in developing a RESTFul API and platform.
Other duties the student may complete could include:
- Cloud computing (with assistance from our team)
- Microservices
- Unit and integration testing
We will plan to communicate with our virtual intern using these communication tools: Slack, Whatsapp, Phone, Google Meet, Email
Student's primary contact: Celyn Brown, CEO & Co-Founder
Secondary contact: Susahosh Rahman, Interim CTO
Resources
We will provide students with access to the following systems and tools: Slack, Jira, Bitbucket

The ShareChange app gives people creative ways to fund life-changing loans. These loans empower underbanked individuals to start a business, expand their farm, or go to school, and ultimately lift themselves out of poverty. Through ShareChange, you can choose who to fund, and receive credits to empower someone again as they repay!
1.7 billion people are unbanked, meaning they don't have access to tools like credit and student loans to create a better future for themselves. These loans often improve the lives of their children and future generations, and may even create jobs for others in the community.
