Positions available: 3 ( 1 team with 3 students)Project Description and Scope:IntroductionThe Career Centre is seeking students that are interested in helping to conceptualize and develop resources and events that will help the VSE Career Centre systemically integrate inclusion into our operations and services.Students would have the opportunity to· Conduct Diversity, Inclusion and Equity (DEI) research, plan events, work with diverse stakeholders, and write recommendation reports to make inclusion more intentional and apparent at UBC, starting with the BIE program and potentially the rest of VSE· Work with other students in the program to plan and deliver an event for the BIE Class of 2024 with two primary goals in mind: obtaining maximum attendance for students to be able to interact outside of an academic context; unpack the theme “Moving Beyond Cultural Boundaries” with the help of speaker(s) who can talk about diversity and inclusion· Aid in continuing research for multiple events for Fall 2021, where students have the chance to unpack issues of inclusivity such as: ageism, LGBTQIA+ rights, mental and physical disabilities, racism, sexism, Truth and Reconciliation, and other forms of discrimination in the workplace and in today’s world· Provide recommendations for our plan moving forwardWe’re looking for someone like you if:· You are passionate about promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion· You are a strategic thinker with an ability to reinvent and develop new opportunities· You are ambitious and excited to explore DEI· You like working collaboratively with team members and stakeholders· You are sensitive to the current social and political environment surrounding DEIQualifications:· Self-motivated and driven to lead an impactful event· Able to work with attention to detail and highly organized· Event planning and management experience· Excellent oral communication and presentation skills· Previous experience working with inclusivity, equity, and diversity preferred· Adaptable and flexible with excellent interpersonal skills to work with a diverse population of students, colleagues, and outside stakeholders· Able to provide clear and precise next step recommendations as part of a final reportStudent will receive:- Weekly oversight through prescheduled meetings- Constant feedback on operations- Recommendations and potential to return for other projects after completion

Creating Self-Directed "What Can I Do with my BIE Degree" Course in Canvas

No. of positions available: 4Project Description and ScopeThe Career Centre is seeking students that are interested in developing a self-directed on-line career course in Canvas as part of the Perspectives Program (a self-directed online career development program) that will support BIE students with understanding the different career opportunities available to them with their BIE degree.Students will have the opportunity to:● Carefully review career and job market resources currently available to BIE students through the VSE Career Centre, the Centre for Student Involvement and Careers, and Arts and Sauder Co-op● Conduct further research to understand the different career opportunities, industries, and types of jobs that BIE students go into after graduation; determine the types of resources and skills they will need to work in these industries and job types, and the resources that we can provide them via this course● Complete a detailed outline for the course in collaboration with the Program Development Assistants; gain final approval from the Director● Create the online course in Canvas utilizing relevant materialsWe’re looking for someone like you if:· You have the ability to be flexible and adaptable in a dynamic environment· You have an affinity or interest in team and project-based work and able to work independently· You have a passion for technical work, solving issues using technology, and web-based development projects· You have excellent organizational and time management skills· You have effective oral and written communication skills· You have basic office administrative skills and the ability to operate standard office equipmentQualifications:● Intermediate-level Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)● Experience using Canvas or creating content on Canvas preferred● Previous experience with career counselling and/or working at a career centre preferred● Resourceful and able to research best practices in various areas● Creative design and/or course development experience● Ability to deal with a diversity of internal and external stakeholders in a calm, courteous, and effective manner● Strong interpersonal and communication skills in all forms (email, phone, in-person)● Able to deal with information in a confidential manner and respond with sensitivity● Equally at ease working independently and in a team environment● Previous Project Management and/or Program Development and/or Administrative experience is preferred● Must be able to work 10 hours per week for 8 weeksStudent will receive:- Weekly oversight through prescheduled meetings- Constant feedback on operations- Recommendations and potential to return for other projects after completion

Surveying Strategy and Mapping

PROJECT SCOPEPositions available: 3 ( 1 team with 3 students)Project Description and Scope:IntroductionThe Career Centre is looking for a team of students to conduct a thorough analysis Centre's operations and services in regards to surveying our students, staff, and past alumniStudents would have the opportunity to- Map current VSE Career Centre processes and operations- Make a non-exhaustive analysis of the existing student-to-Centre feedback loops at the VSE Career Centre and identify strengths and weaknesses within the same- Create templates for surveys and the kinds of services that could be added to existing surveying strategy- Collaborate with other Work Learn students and staff to determine the needs of the VSE Career Centre in tracking usage of the website, the canvas course and other tools- Communicate regularly with the Director and VSE Career Centre staff via email, in-person and by phone, in a professional manner- Attend weekly staff meetings to discuss updates and ongoing activities with the VSE Career Centre Director- Communicate key learnings, takeaways, and insights through debriefs, summary reports, and weekly meetings as well as through updates to the Data Tracking and Reporting Analyst transition manual- Other duties as requiredWe’re Looking for Someone Like You If:- You have a passion for research and operations analysis- You have the ability to be flexible and adaptable in a dynamic environment- You have an affinity for project-based work and are able to work independently and in a team- You have excellent organizational, time management and communications (oral and written) skills- You have basic office administrative skills and the ability to operate standard office equipmentMust HavesSkills/knowledge- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite- Previous experience with data collection and analysis- Intermediate knowledge of coding and automating processes- Previous experience with Qualtrics is an asset- Strong organizational and time-management skills, as well as an eagerness to learn- Ability to deal with a diversity of internal stakeholders in a calm, courteous, and effective manner, utilizing strong business acumen- Resourceful and able to research best practices in a variety of areas- Strong interpersonal and communication skills in all forms (email, phone, in-person)- Able to deal with information in a confidential manner and respond with sensitivity- Equally at ease working independently and in a team environment- Previous experience with Qualtrics, WordPress, and/or Canvas Course (asset)- Previous experience conducting research and developing comprehensive research reports (asset)- Previous experience working with a Career Centre / Coaching field (asset)- Must be able to work up to 20 hours a weekStudent will receive:- Weekly oversight through prescheduled meetings- Constant feedback on operations- Recommendations and potential to return for other projects after completion
