What is the main goal for this project?

AUAV, a leading drone manufacturer, is embarking on a project to create a cutting-edge Virtual Reality (VR) simulator. This simulator aims to serve two essential purposes:


  • Functional Testing: To thoroughly evaluate the functionality and performance of our customized drones.
  • Training: To provide an immersive training experience for students, enabling them to become proficient in operating drones within a virtual environment.
What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

We are eager to collaborate with talented students who possess expertise in engineering, computer science, and VR technology to bring this project to fruition.

 

Tasks for Students

Students participating in this project will be responsible for the following tasks:

·        Understanding Our Objectives: Gain a deep understanding of AUAV's objectives, existing drone products, and services.

·        VR Simulator Development: Create a VR simulator that replicates the operation drones, including their flight characteristics, controls, and behavior in an urban setting.

·        Functional Testing Integration: Integrate functional testing modules within the simulator to evaluate drone functionality and performance.

·        User-Friendly Interface: Design an intuitive and user-friendly VR interface to facilitate training for students.

·        Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation covering the simulator's design, development process, and testing procedures.

 

Bonus Tasks

 

Beyond their core responsibilities, students are encouraged to:

 

·        Urban Environment Simulation: Develop a detailed and 3D simulation of the city of Calgary, including buildings, streets, and landmarks.

·        Training Scenarios: Design training scenarios that challenge users to navigate drones through various urban scenarios, such as traffic, buildings, and obstacles.

 

Deliverables

 

Upon the project's conclusion, students will be required to deliver:

·        Fully Functional VR Simulator: A complete and fully functional VR simulator

·        Documentation: Comprehensive documentation that includes the simulator's design, development process, testing protocols, and any innovations or enhancements.
