What is the main goal for this project?

We are initiating a project to develop a cloud-based service request application that will transform how we interact with our clients by streamlining service requests, enabling precise measurement of service performance, and enhancing the efficiency of our service delivery. This application will serve as a central hub for managing our client interactions and service requests, offering real-time insights into service performance metrics and fostering an environment of continuous improvement.

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

To design an intuitive, user-friendly, and efficient cloud-based application that enables seamless service request submissions by clients, provides comprehensive performance analytics to the business, and facilitates a proactive approach to service delivery improvements.

Guidelines for Tasks :

User Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct user research to understand the needs, pain points, and expectations of both our clients and service teams.
  • Analyze competitive offerings to identify best practices and differentiation opportunities.

Design Requirements Specification:

  • Collaborate with product manager to define user personas and journey maps.
  • Translate user research findings into detailed design requirements.

Prototype Development:

  • Create wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes to visualize the solution.
  • Once high fidelity mockups are complete, create a prototype in Figma that can be used to test and validate the designs

Deliverables:

  • Detailed user research report
  • Wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes
  • Prototype design in Figma

  • Preparation of any relevant resources and assets in advance of the kick off call
  • With a regular weekly check-in call

What skills or technologies will help learners to complete the project?

Technical Skills:

  1. User Research: Proficiency in various user research methodologies, including surveys, interviews, usability testing, and user persona development.
  2. Wireframing and Prototyping: Skilled in creating wireframes and prototypes using tools like Sketch, Adobe XD, Figma, or Axure to visualize design concepts.
  3. UI Design: Strong understanding of UI principles, color theory, typography, and the creation of intuitive and engaging user interfaces.
  4. Design Systems: Experience building and maintaining design systems to ensure consistency across the application.
  5. Accessibility and Responsiveness: Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and designing for various devices and screen sizes to ensure inclusivity and usability.
  6. Collaboration Tools: Familiarity with collaboration and version control tools like Jira, Confluence, GitHub, or similar platforms to work effectively in a team environment.

Design Skills:

  1. Visual Design: A keen eye for aesthetic design and the ability to create visually appealing interfaces that align with brand standards.
  2. Information Architecture: Ability to organize information clearly and logically to enhance user experience.
  3. Interaction Design: Understanding of how to create interactive elements and animations that add to the user experience without compromising usability.

  1. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate design decisions and collaborate effectively with stakeholders and team members.
  2. Problem-solving: Strong analytical skills and the ability to solve complex design challenges with innovative solutions.
