Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

I am a published author from Central Alberta with a dark fantasy trilogy, a 5 book contemporary romance series, and 2 book fantasy romance series. At the end of the internship, the student will be able to use the completed books as well as myself as reference for future work. They will also have their name in the acknowledgement page for their editing work.

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

The intern will do a copyedit, followed by a proofread of all 10 manuscripts (or as many as they are able to complete within the 2 month time frame). The internship will allow the an in-depth experience of both the editing process, and relationship management with an author.

***The intern will have to be comfortable editing sex scenes for the romance books, and scenes of torture and abuse for the dark fantasy.

How will you support learners in completing the project?

I will work one on one with the intern, establishing a schedule for edits, creating a style sheet, sharing resources and tips for the editing process.

What skills or technologies will help learners to complete the project?

Required skills/tools:

-Access to stable internet

-Laptop

-Microsoft word

-Copyediting/proofreading course from BCS program

Assets but not required:

-Experience editing

-Developmental/Substantive editing course from BCS program
