- What is the main goal for this project?

The World Health Org. has called the lack of access to healthcare for people with disabilities "a Global Crisis."
ReadyBe was created by Ilanna S. Mandel, a long-time disability rights activist, speaker, and author. She created this app for people such as herself who face ongoing barriers and challenges trying to access mainstream healthcare.
We would like students to help us with creating content that is aligned with our vision, mission, and sector. We will ensure the student has a clear understanding of what these elements are for our organization.
Ultimately, you will be working on content creation:
1. An online social media campaign
2. Networking to support the Indiegogo campaign
3. Networking with influencers in disability culture to feature Ilanna and her team on podcasts, webinars, and other media interviews.

- What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

To accomplish this, we expect the student(s) will:
- Write blog articles, email newsletters/sequences and other content pieces related to the challenges faced by people with disabilities to access healthcare.
- Assist with the beta testing process - regularly remind people of the testing need to improve the app, and analyze the ongoing results.
- Evaluate recent successful user-generated campaigns, preferably in our sector
- Identify media outlets that are most beneficial to share our story

- How will you support learners in completing the project?

Students will work closely with the primary project manager who is supervising and available for questions. This will also include occasional progress meetings where adjustments to the students' tasks and duties can be made if necessary.
Ilanna will make herself available once a week by Zoom for a detailed check in. The team will also be available to answer any questions. Between virtual meetings, Ilanna is available by email and phone to discuss anything related to the work. She is a former Clinical Counsellor, and therefore, an excellent communicator who is also kind and compassionate. ReadyBe is a company which is fully supportive of anyone working them - people of any gender, cultural background, spiritual beliefs, and/or the presence of a disability. The team is an inviting group and does not tolerate prejudice or racism of any kind. All people will be treated with great respect.
- What skills or technologies will help learners to complete the project?

The following skills will be helpful:
1. An interest in or understanding of the healthcare system.
2. Strong computer skills, WORD, PPT, and EXCEL if possible.
3. Good communication skills.
4. Strong writing skills - emails, letters, basic correspondence.
5. Knowledge of social media would be helpful.
6. An interest in and/or knowledge of disability issues would be of great benefit.
7. An understanding of barriers and challenges facing people with disabilities.
A student or team with excellent writing and video skills would be the ideal candidate for this project.

ReadyBe is a small company owned by Ilanna S. Mandel, MA We are currently developing an mHealth app to benefit people with disabilities. The app's primary purpose is to facilitate accessible, inclusive, and hospitable healthcare. Our goals are to launch the app in March 2023 and engage in broad-based networking to have the app tested by at least 1000 people world-wide. Another goal is to raise $200,000 in our Indiegogo campaign to fund further development. In particular, the app requires further development to be accessible to persons who are blind or have low vision.
