Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

We are looking for assistance in researching public and private foundations and other funding sources that would be a match for our organization and programs.

We believe this project will include:

  • Identify potential grants, sponsors and funding opportunities that match the goals and priorities of the EFC’s organization and its programs that accept unsolicited proposals and letter of intent (this could include corporate foundations and banks).
  • Research similar organizations and their funders
  • Liason with our development team to create a resource library that includes descriptiions of our different programs and the needs they are addressing.
  • Conduct research on publications and data that speaks to the importance of the programs and services we are providing
  • Assist with drafting grant proposals.


WHAT TASKS WILL LEARNERS NEED TO COMPLETE TO ACHIEVE THE PROJECT GOAL?


  • Research grant opportunities to support our cause
  • Write, edit, and revise letters of interest(s)
  • Plan, write, edit, and revise a persuasive proposal(s)

HOW WILL YOU SUPPORT LEARNERS IN COMPLETING THE PROJECT?

Students will work directly with our Development team and Admin staff for assistance and direction throughout the project. Schedule to be determined with the student(s).

  • The Encampment organizes summer programs and year-round follow-up for young people (ages 15-18) of different ethnic, religious, gender preference, geographic, and economic backgrounds. EFC provides youth with an experience in democratic living with the aim of helping them to become more thoughtful, informed, responsible and effective global citizens and leaders in the struggle for social justice.
What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

By the end of the project, students should demonstrate:

  • Understanding of the Encampment for Citizenships programs
  • Understanding of the Philanthropic and private foundation sector
  • Abitlity to locate and match prospective funders with non profit programs and organizations
  • Facility with the Instrumentl platform and data base

Bonus steps would include:

  • Recommending new sources of funding and organizational matches

Final deliverables should include:

  • A final report.
  • A 10-minute presentation that includes reccommendations for an ongoing funder matching process.

Students will connect directly with us for mentorship throughout the project. We will be able to provide answers to questions such as:

  • Our programs
  • Private foundations and the philanthropic sector
  • Creating an effective development and fundraising plan
  • Writing effective letters of intent and grant proposals
