Content is structured around four key areas: the individual, the group, the organisation and society. Students will start off by exploring the nature and contexts of organisations and management practice in the private, public and voluntary sector, then they will examine different theories and approaches on leadership and ways to manage people, and finally, how the process and drivers of change, and the responses of staff and other stakeholders, play an integral part in organisational life and improving performance.

You can choose from financial topics such as corporate governance, entrepreneurial finance and multinational financial management. The management topics include human resources, marketing and communications. And by learning with people from all over the world, you’ll develop the expertise and confidence to work globally.

The Career Lab: Student Consultancy Programme offers our valued partners the opportunity to explore a live challenge faced by your organisation whilst providing meaningful work experience to a small group of students. Students spend a combined 100 hours on a project brief set by you (the client) and provide a business-style presentation to showcase their findings.There is no financial obligation, the research can be carried out remotely, and the time commitment is very low. It aims to provide students who are interested in undertaking a different type of dissertation with the opportunity of being involved in addressing a request raised by a real business/ organisation. From this perspective, the Consultancy Project is similar to a project prepared by consultants when addressing a client request. Students will work on one main project over three months, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools. Students will work in teams under close supervision.

There is an emphasis upon strategy, co-creation, product and process design, value and benefits which are associated with the front-ending of the project life-cycle. The aim is to identify desirable, feasible and viable projects. Students will work on a project over the course of a two week period, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication and collaborative tools.Students in this program/course will gain both creative and critical skills to help you imagine and plan projects in today’s highly complex and uncertain business and economic environment. Students are taught and supervised by leading innovation and project management experts in the University of Sussex Business School. This course draws on expertise from SPRU – Science Policy Research Unit. Within an environment that values innovation and sustainability, they’ll learn to imagine and plan projects effectively and efficiently.
