Learners will work on one main project over the experience of the semester, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools. Learners in this program/experience are introduced to the concepts, theories and consequences of inequality and stratification both domestically and globally. The focus of the course will be on understanding the causes and outcomes of existing privilege, the recognition of intersectionality, and the analysis of stratification systems including those based status, the economy, race and ethnicity, gender and gender identity, sexual orientation, and physical ability.

Learners will work on one main project over the second half of the of the semester, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools. Learners in this program/experience are sophomore and junior students in computer science (or computer engineering). The students will be learning Kotlin and Android Studio during the semester (and already know both C++ and Java and potentially some Python). The course's catalog description: "Introduction to mobile app development with a focus on Android platform for mobile phones and tablets. Topics include Android development environment (open source IDE Android Studio), emulator-android virtual device, basic building blocks, user interface design, menus and grids, fragments, data storage, styles and themes, tabs, threads, widgets, GPS coding, touch gestures, multimedia, networking and sensors, debugging and testing." This experience invites industry professionals to collaborate with learners who are exploring the methodologies and assessments used in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). Learners are equipped with the skills to design effective language curricula and evaluate diverse assessment tools. By engaging in this experience, learners can apply their classroom knowledge to real-world projects, focusing on enhancing language instruction in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. This collaboration aims to bridge academic learning with practical application, offering innovative solutions to language instruction challenges.
