online communication researchLooking to elevate your organization, and bring it to the next level? Bring on learners from Ohio Northern University to be your learner-consultants, in a project-based experience. Learners will work on one main project over the experience of the semester, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools.
Learners in this program/experience are introduced to the concepts, theories and consequences of inequality and stratification both domestically and globally. The focus of the course will be on understanding the causes and outcomes of existing privilege, the recognition of intersectionality, and the analysis of stratification systems including those based status, the economy, race and ethnicity, gender and gender identity, sexual orientation, and physical ability.
Learners
Deliverables are negotiable, and will seek to align the needs of the learners and the organization.
Some final project deliverables might include:
- A 10-15 minute presentation on key findings and recommendations
- A detailed report including their research, analysis, insights and recommendations

Project Examples
Requirements
Learners in groups of 3-5 will work with your company to identify your needs and provide actionable recommendations, based on their in-depth research and analysis.
Project activities that learners can complete may include, but are not limited to:
- Analyzing the structural causes of stratification and inequality.
- Applying classical and contemporary sociological theories to stratification and inequality.
- Explaining the importance of various social locations (such as race, ethnicity, gender, class, and sexuality) and their intersections with other locations.
- Summarizing the role of social construction in understanding each of these locations.
- Examining the relationship between the concept of privilege and stratification.
