The waitlist for an assessment or services is unreasonably long in Canada. The aim of Autism Waitlist is to have every paediatrician's office, doctor's office, and school to be able to provide parents with steps they can take to support their child while they are on the waitlist, and provide trainings, tools, and resources to help them.

Social Media Campaign Project (1 Month)

The Autism Waitlist provides resources, tools and training to parents who are on an autism waitlist. The Social Media Campaign for this project will involve the creation of social media content following a social media content plan tailored to parents who are on an autism waitlist. This particular social media campaign will be for Autism Acceptance Month in April. By the end of the project students will be required to create specific social media content as outlined in the social media plan. A brand deck will be provided illustrating brand colours, fonts & language. Example Outcomes : (to be clarified in our initial meeting) 4 pieces of blog content 15 TikTok videos 15 instagram posts/carousels including graphics (utilizing templates) Repurpose content --> repurpose content to Pinterest & Linked In (from blog, Tik Tok and Instagram content)

Autism Waitlist Intern

The Autism Waitlist currently provides resources, tools and training to parents who are on an autism waitlist. The Autism Waitlist Intern will engage in participate in workshop development, community engagement & relationship building, as well as staff orientation processes. Project Priorities: Support & develop family engagement initiatives (participate in workshop development for parents on an autism waitlist & training to run workshop) Build relationships with community (engage in outreach with community partners, build relationships, virtual workshops & collaborations) Facilitate staff hiring/retention helping families hire staff to work directly with their children (assist with interviews/orientation, create orientation documents) Other Project Aims: Creating resources & teaching materials Support policy revision/development/implementation (i.e. develop agency policies on onboarding families & increasing parent success) Newsletter/social media/digital portfolios for children & families
