Details

Illegal mining, known as galamsey, in Ghana poses significant environmental and social challenges, particularly concerning water pollution. The project aims to develop a programmatic framework and roadmap to address these issues by leveraging advanced water purification technologies. The goal is to identify and propose feasible solutions that can be implemented to mitigate the adverse effects of galamsey activities on local water resources. This project will allow learners to apply their knowledge of environmental science, engineering, and sustainable practices to create a comprehensive plan that considers both technological and socio-economic factors. The framework should be adaptable, scalable, and sensitive to the local context, ensuring it can be effectively integrated into existing environmental management strategies.

Deliverables

The project deliverables include a detailed programmatic framework document and a roadmap for implementation. The framework should outline the best available water purification technologies and strategies, while the roadmap should provide a step-by-step guide for deployment. Additionally, a presentation summarizing the findings and recommendations will be prepared for stakeholders. The deliverables should be comprehensive yet concise, ensuring clarity and practicality for real-world application.
