additive manufacturing (3d printing) blender 3d (3d graphics software) zbrush animal modelsThe objective of this project is to create a series of low-to-medium detail 3D models of animals raising their middle finger. These models will be optimized for FDM 3D printing and designed for multi-color printing (up to 4 colors). The models should be approximately 6 cm tall, ensuring they are printable, visually appealing, and manufacturable for a 3D printing business.
Students will be responsible for:
- 3D Model Creation:
- Design low-to-medium-detail 3D models of various animals in Blender, ZBrush, Fusion 360, or similar software.
- Ensure models are suitable for FDM 3D printing with minimal supports.
- Assign up to 4 color separations for multi-material printing.
- Save and export files in .STL and .3MF formats.
- Concept & Design Review:
- Create initial concept sketches or rough models for feedback.
- Adjust proportions and pose to ensure the middle finger gesture is clear.
- Testing & Refinement:
- Make necessary modifications based on printability feedback.
- Ensure models align with manufacturing constraints while maintaining artistic intent.
- Final Deliverables:
- A completed set of 3D models (.STL & .3MF) ready for printing.
- Concept sketches or early drafts for review.
- Technical notes on multi-color separation and printing considerations.
- (Optional) Rendered previews of the models.
This project provides students with hands-on experience in 3D modeling for manufacturing, optimizing designs for 3D printing, and working with multi-color material limitations.
Scheduled check-ins to discuss progress, address challenges, and provide feedback.
