Details

The GU Institute of Earthquake Prediction aims to enhance its earthquake prediction capabilities by developing a robust and dynamic database system. This project involves creating a database that automatically updates with the latest earthquake data every minute from major platforms like the US Geological Survey (USGS). The goal is to ensure real-time data availability for further analysis. The project will also include conducting basic analysis to identify patterns or indicators of strong seismic shocks. This will provide learners with an opportunity to apply their knowledge of database management and data analysis in a real-world context, focusing on the critical area of earthquake prediction.

Deliverables

- A fully functional database system capable of integrating and updating earthquake data every minute from USGS and the other public sources.

- A basic analytical tool or report that identifies potential indicators of strong seismic activity.

- Documentation detailing the database structure, data integration process, and analytical methods used.

- A presentation summarizing the project outcomes and insights gained from the analysis.

GU INSTITUTE OF EARTHQUAKE PREDICTION(GUIEP) is a non-profit organization focusing on earthquake prediction.
We are committed to overcoming the global problem of earthquake prediction in order to protect the safety of life and property. Earthquakes cause 35.8 billion USD in losses for the top 15 easy-shock countries per year. Earthquake prediction is one of the top ten scientific problems in the world. We can predict the strong earthquakes and strong aftershocks.
