Details

The main goal of this project is to empower people going through and after divorce to develop their own virtual vision board to help them picture and plan their new life post-divorce. This will help them look forward through a challenging time in their life, aim for what they want out of their new life, and see hope. The choices they make during divorce have an impact on their new life going forward, and the vision board will help them rebuild their new future. The project will involve the following steps:

- Research and comparative analysis of virtual vision board options currently available

- Recommendation of a vision board program/app for this purpose

- Drafting best practices for creating a virtual vision board for people going through a divorce

- Creating a sample virtual vision board (or a few boards) as an example

Deliverables

Learners will need to complete the following tasks to achieve the project goal:

- Research virtual vision board options and draft a brief report and comparative analysis

- Based upon the research, recommend a vision board program/app for this purpose

- Best practices document for creating a virtual vision board for people going through a divorce

- Sample virtual vision board created as an example

Mentorship

We will provide time and guidance to empower and support students to complete this meaningful project, so together we can help improve the lives of people going through divorce. The use of a virtual vision board through divorce is innovative and can be impactful during a very challenging time in their life. We will meet with the students on a regularly scheduled basis, and/or ad hoc, whichever supports their learning styles best. We also have access to valuable information to help facilitate this process, including resources used throughout the divorce process. We look forward to working towards shifting the narrative on divorce and getting more help to those going through the process when they need it most.

The cost of divorce and family breakdown are well documented. The Divorce Act was recently changed to reflect the insurmountable costs to social services, families & communities. T.C.D.aims to meet a pressing need and foster better social, emotional, and economic outcomes for our kids, parents and communities. Traditional divorce is like raging against the storm - time, energy and money - misdirected against an inevitable negative outcome that is impacts everyone. Parental alienation is rising along with mental illness and studies indicate that teenage suicide is directly linked to family breakdown. The divorce process is inherently destabilizing - people feel overwhelmed, hopeless, and "divorce crazy." a term often used in amongst Family lawyers . Rates of domestic violence rise over 80% during relationship breakdown. T.C.D. is an integrated system that focuses on prevention in a simple way empowering and supporting families during these critical times.
