Supervised, technical work integrated learning experience in a public or private organization for up to 8-weeks from July 6 to August 31. Restricted to undergraduate students meeting the requirements of the Faculty of Applied Science and the Co-operative Education Program. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, student placements will only occur virtually.

As a response to the COVID-19 challenge, UBC Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (NAME) Program has adopted a new strategy for the NAME Internship/Project course. The NAME 592 course emphasizes the teamwork and management skills necessary for excellence in professional design practice. The “design or consulting firm", i.e. team of 1 to 4 students, supported by faculty members and an industry mentor, work on industry-directed projects. Emphasis is placed on disciplined adherence to professional design practices (including planning, scheduling, documentation, risk management, and economics) and a clear focus on the client’s needs, as well as solutions to technical issues.We are requesting projects that originate from an industrial need, and for which you are willing to act as a client for the student team. All students have undergraduate degrees with 2 years to 10+ years industry experience.Projects can commence at any time from May 13 - July 17 and end no later than September 8.

Virtual Internship (paid; full or part-time)An opportunity to bring in a Master's NAME student this summer to meet short term needs of your organization and contribute to development of a future engineer for Canada's marine industry. The full- or part-time, engineering intern will complete a specific project conducted virtually (i.e. off-site) for anywhere from 6-16 weeks. Internships can commence anytime from May through July; ending by Labour Day. Minimum 180 hours.Students can work on one or more projects during the internship. This virtual internship could also be an opportunity for your junior technical staff to develop their supervisory skills. Recruit from our Master of Engineering Leadership program (all students have 4 to 10+ years industry experience ranging from shipyards, mariners, project managers) or the Master of Engineering program (all have undergraduate engineering degrees plus 2 to 8+ years industry experience).

Students will engage in a project or service of your choosing over the internship period, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools.Students are available for a minimum of 72 practice hours from May 11 to July 28, 2020.Due to COVID-19 restrictions, student placements will only occur virtually.This course is an opportunity for students to explore interprofessional practice and nursing leadership. Through practice, participants will develop competencies in the areas of leadership, influencing and managing change, in the context of emerging Canadian and global health issues and trends. This may occur in settings or organizations that do not have health/health care as their primary mandate.

Fourth-year students from the School of Health and Exercise Sciences at the University of British Columbia's Okanagan campus are available to be your virtual interns, in a project- or virtual service-based experience. Students will engage in one or more projects or services of your choosing over the internship period, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools.Students are available for a minimum of 40 hours from April 27 to June 30, 2020.Due to COVID-19 restrictions, student placements will only occur virtually.These project or service offerings are part of the community placement experience, where students obtain practical experience in a supervised health or human kinetics work setting with a cooperating agency, private business or industry.

One or more master's-level social work students from the University of British Columbia's Okanagan campus are available to be your virtual interns, in a project- or virtual service-based experience. Students will engage in one or more projects or services of your choosing over the internship period, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools.Students are available for up to 450 hours of placement from May to August 2020.Due to COVID-19 restrictions, student placements will only occur virtually.These project or service offerings are part of the field education experience, an agency-based course in which students apply, in supervised practice, the theoretical concepts, principles, values, and ethics taught in the classroom. In addition to the supervised learning of skills with individuals, families, and groups, students will be socialized to the identity of a professional social worker and the many roles that social workers occupy in agencies and in the community.
