Canadian Market Launch Analysis and Plan

The Dinner Daily is a highly regarded personalized online meal planning service that has operated in the US exclusively for the past five years, but we have received numerous inquiries from Canada as to whether our is available there. Given the relatively similarities between the US and Canadian palates and grocery industries, we would like to explore how we might best expand into Canada. The goal of this project is to understand the Canadian grocery market and to create a launch plan that we can execute against. This may or may not include messaging specific for the Canadian market, but should include which locations (provinces or urban areas) make the most sense for launch and which grocery chains we should include in our service at first. The Dinner Daily provides weekly dinner meal plans based on members' food preferences, dietary needs and the weekly sales at their selected grocery chain. Our menu algorithm has been developed and refined over years and follows hundreds of rules when creating a weekly menu to ensure a pleasing experience. Members can change preferences at any time. We currently cover the sales at over half of the grocery stores in the US.The project team will need to familiarize themselves with our service, and then analyze the Canadian market with regards to identifying the primary grocery chains in each province, understanding their weekly sales cycle and regional coverage of those sales. The project team should also do a quick competitive analysis to understand what other online meal planning services are offered in Canada and the project may also identify aspects of our service that are either well aligned, or not well aligned with Canadian market needs (such as the lack of a French language version of our service currently) The project should conclude in a recommendation for where we might consider launching in Canada and any other recommendations that the group may have with regards to our decision as to whether to launch in Canada. This may or may not include any specific ideas for communications or messaging, depending on the time availability of team members.
