Description

The Africa-Canada- Education Foundation (ACEF) supports educational projects and provides educational materials for less privileged youths, students, marginalized African Canadians, new immigrants, refugees, and dropouts in Canada and rural Africa, and access to quality education. With its motto “Education is a right and not a privilege,” ACEF seeks to promote the principles of social justice in education, namely fairness, equality, equity, inclusion, non-discrimination. ACEF also provides art, cultural, and educational services to the African community as well as to the larger community. Our ongoing projects are the Africanada Art & Digital Literacy Centre (africa-canadaeducationfoundation.org) and the Sankofa Senior Digital Literacy Program (Sankofa Senior Digital Literacy Program (africa-canadaeducationfoundation.org).

Africanada Art and Digital Literacy Centre Fundraising Project

This project is a fundraising project and involves students creating a crowdfunding project to raise up to $350,000 towards the renovation and operation of the Africanada Art and Digital Literacy Centre in Surrey, BC. The participants must also research and implement other sources to fundraise for the project.This project is intended to build capacity in students to be creative and collaborative in an altruistic task. This will be a research creation project whereby the students build on previous experiences to create new experiences. Students will develop an essential entrepreneurial quality, which involves project ideation, identifying opportunities, building constructive collaboration, crafting a fund-raising message, public speaking, presentational skills, and most of all problem solving. The funds raised will be toward enabling a community centre to serve its targets in the community.End Date: 08/31/2024 or when target is reached.Interim/Progress report: 06/31, 2024.
