This project aims to raise funds and enhance the human, financial, IT, and digital capacity of the Africa-Canada Education Foundation. Students will perform various tasks from May to August 2024 to support the organization. Students will be assigned a variety of students specific to their qualifications, skills, and interests.
TASKS TO ACHIEVE THE GOAL:
1. IT Assistant:
- Perform assigned IT and digital tasks
- Update the organization's website and social media platforms
- Research and report on IT requirements for the Africa-Canada Art and Digital Literacy Project
- Install IT infrastructure at the Africa-Canada Art and Digital Literacy Centre
2. Bookkeeper:
- Maintain financial records and balance accounts using bookkeeping systems
- Post journal entries, reconcile accounts, and prepare financial statements
3. Administrative Assistant:
- Assist with administrative duties, including event planning, correspondence, and phone calls
- Create multimedia promotional materials
- Attend virtual meetings, take minutes, and send invites and reminders
- Receive monthly payment via e-transfer
4. Grant Writer (for Africa-Canada Education Foundation):
- Research grant opportunities
- Draft and submit grant proposals
- Respond to queries and maintain relationships with fund providers
- Maintain records and submit reports
5. Social Media Coordinator:
- Research audience preferences and trends
- Create engaging content (text, images, videos)
- Design posts to generate interest
- Monitor web traffic and SEO
6. Fundraising Coordinator:
- Develop compelling proposals, reports, and budgets for fundraising
- Implement fundraising activities and manage deadlines
- Engage volunteers and track grant deliverables
- Build relationships with donors and participate in appeals and campaigns
SUPPORT FOR STUDENTS:
Students will have access to training sessions that are relevant to their assigned tasks. The training will be conducted by experienced staff members or external experts. The specific topics and format of the training will depend on the needs of each role.
To access the training, students will be provided with schedules and instructions on how to join virtual training sessions. These sessions may be conducted through video conferences, online modules, or interactive workshops. Students will also have access to training materials, resources, and documentation that they can refer to throughout the project.
Additionally, students will have the opportunity to ask questions, seek clarification, and receive guidance from their supervisors and mentors. They will be encouraged to actively participate in the training sessions to enhance their skills and knowledge.
The goal of the training is to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to successfully complete their assigned tasks and contribute effectively to the project. It will focus on developing the specific competencies required for each role, such as IT skills, bookkeeping principles, social media management, fundraising strategies, and grant writing techniques.
