Bio

Tsvetanka Karagyozova is an Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, in the Department of Economics of York University. An award-winning educator, her teaching portfolio includes 20+ courses, from introductory-level required to upper-level electives, taught in both small- and large-size classes. Her recent research explores the potential niche for microinsurance in Canada, the aggregate impact of microinsurance in African economies, and the behavioural underpinnings of charitable giving. Tsvety holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Connecticut as well as Masters degrees in both Economics and Finance. Her diverse work experience includes positions with the MicroInsurance Centre at Milliman, Bulgarian Red Cross, CARE International, and IMCC/Dimension Capital Management as well as various, teaching-focused, academic positions with Lawrence University, University of British Columbia, University of Toronto, and Wesleyan University.

The course builds upon theoretical knowledge and quantitative and analytical skills developed in the prerequisite courses to guide students in producing an original research paper on a topic identified in collaboration with you under the supervision of the instructor.Students can partner with you toUse the correct theoretical approach to frame the issue identified in conjunction with you.Conduct literature review; analyze and critically assess relevant work applicable to the research project.Identify and apply the appropriate technical and analytical tools for addressing the problem at handArticulate evidence-based conclusions and provide appropriate recommendations.
