Over the past 8 months I have been working towards completing a certificate in Data Analytics, Big Data and Predictive Analytics through Ryerson’s continuing education. I recently completed my undergraduate degree in Business Technology Management and through this program I discovered my fascination with data and my passion for trying to solve problems using data. I briefly experienced using MySQL, R and Python during my undergrad and throughout the certificate, I have delved deeper and refined my knowledge and skills working with these programs.
I have worked on numerous assignments and projects where I got to work with databases, datasets and cleaning datasets and performing analysis to present the information in a way that tells a story.

Data Analytics and Reporting: Geospatial and Boating

We’d like students to help analyze our datasets to draw helpful insights. Using publicly available datasets, students will be given the opportunity to learn how to clean, structure, analyze, and most importantly report on and draw conclusions from the data.  Data sources will include US Coast Guard accident data as well as other geospatial datasets. From this analysis, we hope to not only improve our processes and understanding but also gain insights that will enhance our strategy. These insights will be directly related to business outcomes. Here are some of the topics we’d like students to explore throughout this project: Improve pricing and risk selection Identify trends and potential predictive mitigation strategies Develop more sophisticated products and pricing models Thanks for your interest!
