The Lab focuses on emotional regulation, communication, and nonjudgmental listening, particularly supporting neurodivergent, queer, and system-impacted individuals.
Build a clear, accessible onboarding experience that prepares users for role-based group sessions, emphasizing safety, trust, and authentic connection.
Develop user-centered flows for common and edge-case experiences—such as session disruptions or emotional distress—based on existing trauma-informed guidelines.
Encourage creative, interdisciplinary thinking by engaging students in UX design, digital prototyping, public health awareness, and inclusive tech practices.
Core Deliverables:
- A working prototype (using programming, low-code, or no-code tools) of the Listening Lab onboarding and role-explainer interface.
- A user journey map illustrating how users engage, participate, and exit, including onboarding and emotional pacing.
- Clear role descriptions (e.g., Explorer, Witness, Companion) with visuals or instructional content for each.
- A basic feedback loop (e.g., post-session check-in, issue reporting).
Optional Stretch Deliverables (with FIA support):
- Off-ramp pathways to direct users to mental health, crisis support, or advocacy organizations.
- A lightweight incident protocol for documenting and responding to safety concerns without relying on police or clinical escalation.
- A system map showing where safety check-ins and emotional regulation supports are embedded.
Providing specialized, in-depth knowledge and general industry insights for a comprehensive understanding.
Sharing knowledge in specific technical skills, techniques, methodologies required for the project.
Direct involvement in project tasks, offering guidance, and demonstrating techniques.
Providing access to necessary tools, software, and resources required for project completion.
Scheduled check-ins to discuss progress, address challenges, and provide feedback.
