What is the main goal for this project?

The main goal of this project is to develop engaging and effective course content for Toyz's game-based and adaptive learning platform, that introduces minority and underserved students to STEAM skills and knowledge, and prepares them for STEAM careers. The aim is to increase access and equity in STEAM education, and to improve learning outcomes for these students.

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?
  1. Conduct a needs assessment: Identify the skills and knowledge that minority and underserved students need to develop for STEAM careers. This may involve reviewing industry research and trends, consulting with educators and subject matter experts, and analyzing student performance data.
  2. Design learning objectives and outcomes: Develop clear and measurable learning objectives that align with the identified skills and knowledge areas. These objectives should be tied to specific learning outcomes that students can achieve through the courses.
  3. Create course content: Develop engaging and interactive course content that uses game-based and adaptive learning principles to help students achieve the identified learning outcomes. This may involve designing interactive simulations, exercises, and quizzes, as well as creating multimedia content such as videos, animations, and graphics.
  4. Conduct user testing and evaluation.
How will you support learners in completing the project?

Students will work closely with CEO, Damola Idowu who is supervising and available for questions. This will also include occasional progress meetings where adjustments to the students' tasks and duties can be made if necessary.

What skills or technologies will help learners to complete the project?
  1. Strong understanding of STEAM subjects: Students should have a good grasp of the concepts, principles, and theories in STEAM subjects, as well as the latest developments and trends in these fields.
  2. Course design and development: Students should be familiar with instructional design principles, including how to develop clear learning objectives, design effective assessments, and create engaging and interactive course content.
  3. User testing and evaluation: Students should be familiar with user testing and evaluation methods, including how to gather feedback from users and use this feedback to improve the effectiveness of the course content.

Toyz uses game-based learning and adaptive learning to introduce minority and underserved students to skills development for Science, Techology, Engineering, Art, Math (STEAM) careers. Toyz has a career development product called #TOYZSTEAM

#TOYZSTEAM uses our own custom curriculum, workbook, and existing software tools to teach students to produce products through digital asset creation, coding, game design, 3D modeling, and product design. Students get takeaways of digital assets, a physical 3D model and exposure to software development and game design.
