python (programming language) internal carbon and water pricing integration emissions trading data analysisThis project has two parts, both aim to analyse carbon pricing systems across the world.
First part; Collect data and make a dataset on compliance carbon pricing regimes, specifically about the industrial sectors each system covers. The project will also examine whether and how these systems explicitly recognize low-carbon activities such as Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS), biomass, or green hydrogen.
Second part; Calculate the actual costs companies face for emitting carbon across various jurisdictions. The primary goal is to integrate Emission Trading System (ETS) prices with factors such as free allocation levels to offer a realistic picture of carbon costs.
For both parts the project deliverables will include a clean dataset and some analysis. For the first part, the data collection part, students will have to look into the legal text of the systems to collect data on coverage.
For the second part, we will pick markets based on the skills of the students, if the student know python then one of the deliverables would be a python script for the cleaning and analyzing of the data. If the student does not know python, simply a dataset will be expected with some analysis. The analysis can come as a form of a report or presentation for visuals.
Students will be able to pick what they prefer to work on, depending on their skill levels and interests.
