Overview
Details

Looking to elevate your organization, and bring it to the next level? Bring on learners from Calbright College to be your learner-consultants, in a project-based experience. Learners will work on one main project over the experience of the semester, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools.

Learners will work individually or in small groups, of 2-4 students, based on the number of students enrolled at the time.

*Project start date is flexible, but project duration is 8 weeks long.

Learners in this program/experience explore the concepts and skills necessary to transition into project management-based careers. In this course, students will learn definitions and processes that contribute to the project management framework. The course will follow the project methodology of the Project Management Institute and explore the project life cycle, stakeholder management, how organizational culture affects project management, scope management, and how a project is created. Students will prepare for the workplace by learning the foundations of Project Management and its critical role in all industries and work functions.

Deliverables

Deliverables are negotiable, and will seek to align the needs of the learners and the organization.

Assist with documenting the preliminary cost estimate for the project. Document how the project's objectives align with the organization's strategic objectives.

  • Scope Statement- Collaborate with the Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to refine and clarify the proposed deliverables considered to be in the project's scope. Document items not in scope. Capture the assumptions made by the SMEs. Document the project risks identified by the SMEs.

  • Project Charter- Utilizing the Business Case and Scope Statement, create a well-defined project charter, for effective project initiation.

  • Communications Plan-The ability to construct a project communication plan, ensuring stakeholder engagement, project team coordination, and timely project status delivered to the Project Sponsor.

  • Project Schedule-The ability to work with the project's SMEs to identify the tasks required to achieve the project's goal and deliverables into a Work Breakdown Structure. Collaborate with the SMEs to identify the task effort estimates, dependencies, and tasks on the critical path.

  • Change Log and Lessons Learned-The ability to effectively maintain a change log to record and track changes that occur during the execution phase of a project.

  • Comprehensive Project Plan-Students showcase a final draft of their Comprehensive Project Plan in their professional portfolio.
