Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

We want students to help us develop a digital marketing strategy to grow and engage our target market. We’d like to know how we can maximize different channels and what will work best for us.

The main questions we’d like students to help us answer are the following:

  • How should we promote our company? We currently use a mix of Instagram and Facebook.
  • What social media channels should we utilize? Are Tik Tok, LinkedIn and Twitter useful platforms for our business. How do we use social media to direct users to our ecommerce site?
  • What budget is appropriate for advertising? We do not currently advertise on social media (or any media) - where should we direct our advertising and marketing budget?
  • What messaging should we use? We have some data from user groups but need a consistent message across platforms and for our two line of business (cocktail room and spirits).
What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

We expect students to examine our Facebook and Instagram posts and assess the success of various types of posts. From the data we would like a strategy to determine which channels and content is likely to give us the greatest return on our investment. Additionally, we would like to assess new platforms and the use of influencers to grow our brand within Manitoba and ultimately beyond the province. What other digital tools beyond social media should we be utilizing to generate brand awareness and sales?

Final deliverables can come in the form of a report and/or presentation with an expectation of clear direction.

How will you support learners in completing the project?

Students will work closely with two principal partners at Patent 5. The primary project manager will supervise and be available to provide guidance and answer questions. The other project manager currently manages our social media content and delivery and will be a key resource in the project.

Weekly meetings (in person or virtual) will be part of the project. At least one visit to the distillery is necessary (although it could be a virtual visit).

Depending on the student's time we would like the project completed within 8-10 weeks.
