Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

We are looking to use Monday.com to build various automations within our organization. The rationale for this is as follows:

  • As an organization supported by a 100% remote workforce, projects and workflows need to be transparent and easy to use.
  • Monday.com has given us a grant license as a nonprofit organization - but this was after a careful review of several platforms including Jira, Notion, Trello and others.
  • We are currently in our launch phase, and building relationships are of significant importance - and we don't anyone to get lost in the shuffle. We need clarity on who is doing what, when, and systematic sweeps to catch things before they fall through the cracks.
  • We appreciate the opportunities that automation offers the Association to keep it both lean and nimble, to ensure that we can keep costs as low as possible for our members.

This is a very high demand function for many organizations. We feel that this would be an excellent opportunity for students.

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

Create a number of automation processes using the platform Monday.com. This will be accomplished through:

  • Discussions with our team to determine the workflows of the highest priority, while also determining the best way to create workflows.
  • Researching best practices and workflow templates that will serve the Association's goals and needs. (We are able to direct the students on possible source materials for this)
  • Map the sequencing of tasks in a workflow in a diagram to be presented for approval by the Association before plotting within Monday.com.
  • Build and test the proposed workflows in Monday.com and coordinate tests with Association staff for updates or changes.
  • Re-test and commit final automations and push into production.

An agile approach has been taken and we are now looking to redefine how we can best start and grow to support the industry. It is critically important to us to provide real and lasting value to our members.

Projects that are taken on by students and courses in the Riipen platform will be instrumental in our ability to build capacity to deliver that value.
To date, the work of the Food Trucks Association of Canada has been led by a volunteer Executive Director who is a passionate advocate in this space, and has leveraged a 75% student body of employees made available through various employment subsidies. It is a key part of our mandate to support student learning.

The NAICS code for the Food Trucks is 7223 and other code subsets.
