What is the main goal for this project?

The Vancouver School of Economics Career Centre is seeking students who are interested in developing, editing, and enhancing the VSE Career Centre’s professional development courses offered to Bachelor of International Economics Students.

We are looking for someone like you if:

  • You are passionate about content development and promoting professional and personal development resources to support BIE students
  • You are a critical thinker with an ability to analyze and design course outlines and strategies.
  • You are attuned to the needs of different audiences and can tailor content accordingly
  • You are able to collaborate with others and are flexible when working on tasks that involve ongoing feedback and adjustments

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

Students would have the opportunity to:

  • Assist in re-developing courses for the BIE program that support professional and personal development, the job application and interview process as well as other career-focused skills.
  • Analyse courses and provide perspectives and insight on edits that can be made to enhance the quality of a particular course.
  • Conduct market research on resources relevant to the aforementioned programs.
  • Understand and work with the Canvas platform to upload and publish content for the respective canvas courses in a timely manner.
  • Interact and collaborate with the VSECC Director and the Program Development Co-Ordinator
  • Gain work experience and develop employable skills in a professional environment at the VSE Career Centre.
  • Build lasting professional relationships and networks with the Career Centre team
How will you support learners in completing the project?

Students will receive:

  • Weekly feedback from the VSECC Director and the Program Development Co-Ordinator
  • Ongoing training, guidance, support and mentorship to help successfully execute your responsibilities
  • Training, guidance and support through weekly prescheduled meetings with the Director of the VSE Career Centre, Career Centre Assistant, and the Program Development Coordinator.
  • Experience working in a highly collaborative hybrid environment
  • A professional reference if the project is deemed completed at a high-performance level

The VSE Career Centre is a University of British Columbia (UBC) based centre, which takes a holistic approach as a career resource centre to support Bachelor of International Economics (BIE) students to think critically. Students are supported with their professional and personal development from self-discovery stage to by providing career coaching services and resources. Additionally, we work to build long-lasting relationships with employers, businesses and other key stakeholders to help BIE students become the top choice for recruiters in various industries.
