Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

The project is to develop two e-Learning/online training programs which would be made availble on the company's website, online courses platforms, and potential partners. The training programs include: 1) Digital Accessibility and 2) Planning and Executing Accessible Online and In-person Events.

It is important for events to be accessible and accommodating for people with disabilities. They should always be part of the process and have the opportunity to participate. Products and services are NOT fully complete and equal until everyone can access them with no limitations -- whether the disability is visible or invisible.

Over 15% of the world's population -- over 2 billion people -- have one or more disabilities (WHO, 2021).

A core mantra of the (global) disability movement is "Nothing about us without us".

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

Design and develop two 45-minute e-Learning courses, including quizzes and knowledge checks, using the Articulate 360 authoring tool.

  • Utilize the blueprint for the course (i.e., storyboard/s), including content that has been created by the business owner.
  • Ensure the lessons are engaging and creative with interactive/multimedia content (i.e., audio, video, illustrations, animations, simulations, infographics) and visually appealing (i.e. graphics) while effectively conveying the lessons.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest trends and technologies -- including research.
  • Apply adult education principles/theory and instructional design models.
  • Utilize features and best practices to ensure accessibility-compliance.
  • Effectively communicate with team members.
  • Work closely with all key stakeholders in the development process and do what is best for the audience.
  • Ensure there is a narration script.
  • Integrate assessments and knowledge checks.
  • Apply thorough branching within scenarios.
  • Customize the slide design.

How will you support learners in completing the project?

Students will connect directly with the employer for mentorship and guidance throughout the project. Schedule to be confirmed between the employer and student(s). The storyboard and [some of the] images and videos will be provided. If don't have skills closed captioning, we will reach out to a third-party to create the (closed/audio/descriptive) captions of the videos.

Occasional progress meetings will take place where adjustments to the students' tasks and duties can be made as needed.

Preference to connect and follow-up video conference (i.e., Zoom).

Provide access to Adobe Creative Suite account and will purchase Articulate Storyline 360 authoring tool.
