Looking to elevate your organization, and bring it to the next level? Bring on students from Yorkville University to be your student-consultants, in a project-based experience. These will be first year students in the Introduction to Project Management course (Bachelor of Business Administration degree program).

This course emphasizes the need for linking the strategic plans of organizations to project selection, organizational structures, and the sociocultural and technical dimensions of projects, as well as how a project manager’s focus needs to shift at different stages of a project life cycle.

General Parameters: Virtual student participation (In light of COVID-19 restrictions), supervision of student by organization's personnel, completed Hour Tracking sheet, and end-of-project/participation evaluation.

Some final project deliverables might include:

  1. Conduct project related research and develop project charter.
  2. Assist in developing project plans and WBS
  3. Conduct project evaluations and prioritization

Project Examples

Requirements

Students in groups of 3-5 will work with your company to identify your needs and provide actionable recommendations, based on their in-depth research and analysis.

Project activities that students can complete may include, but are not limited to:

  1. Conduct research and develop project charter
  2. Project planning and work breakdown structure (WBS)
  3. Develop Roadmaps/Gantt Charts and determine relationships between project activities/task
  4. Task assignments, team collaboration and the development and use of Kanban Boards
  5. Develop Mind Maps and Flowcharts to organize and demonstrate what is reasonably achievable based on project scope and other project constraints,
  6. Create professional project plans (with milestones) and risk evaluation registers,
  7. Create Infographics, Dashboards to communicate project status
  8. Develop/populate/use project execution status progress reports
  9. Using PM built-in algorithms to assist in project evaluation and prioritization
