Welcome, business owners, to an unparalleled opportunity for collaboration with our exceptional students at Durham College’s Lean Principles and Continuous Improvement program. Our program delves deep into Lean Manufacturing, emphasizing tools and techniques crucial for analyzing work systems and driving productivity improvements while reducing waste. Students engage with concepts such as Kaizen, Pull systems, single-piece flow, Poka Yoke, SMED, 5S, Visual Control, Total Productive Maintenance, Right-sized Equipment, and Standardized Work.

Typically, students deliver a final report and presentation showcasing their insights and recommendations. However, we are open to discussing alternative deliverable formats that align with project needs.

We seek passionate business owners eager to collaborate with our students. Ideal projects come with a clear business problem statement, whether research-focused, task-focused, or a mix of both. Flexibility in negotiating project scopes ensures a fruitful partnership.

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

Will need to provide access to resources/data to complete the project.

Provide a dedicated contact who is available to answer periodic emails or phone calls over the duration of the project to address students' questions.

Be available to attend final presentation either in-person or via videoconference.

Be available for a quick phone call with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the course.
