Details

Bring on one or more students from Mohawk College to be your virtual project team! Students are looking for opportunities to pursue their special interests and passion in a virtual project experience. In these varied settings, students will engage with children, families, staff, and other professionals.

Students will be supported throughout their experience with further enhancing their understanding of Pedagogy for the Early Years with a focus on the four foundations: Belonging, Well-Being, Engagement, and Expression.

Students are available for up to 20 hours (unpaid) of project time from November 4 , 2020 to December 11, 2020 in a virtual capacity only.

Deliverables

The final deliverable will be agreed upon by the educator and partnering organization. Students will need to complete a minimum of 20 hours by December 11, 2020.

Project Examples

Students will work on one or more projects of your choosing over the project period, connecting with you as needed using virtual communication tools. There is an opportunity for either individual or group-based projects (maximum group size 6 students).

Examples of where students could work include:

  • Childcare centers and early learning agencies
  • Parent and child drop-in centers, such as EarlyON centers
  • Professional Resource Centers
  • Kindergarten Classroom
  • Education-related businesses
  • Businesses that serve children 0-12 and/or their families.
Additional company criteria

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

Be able to fill in hourly tracking sheet at the end of the virtual placement.

Be available for a quick phone call with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the course.

Provide a dedicated contact who is available to answer periodic emails or phone calls over the duration of the project to address students' questions.

Provide students with feedback (on-going and on final tasks).
