WIL Onboarding Process

Please provide a thorough description of your co-op/work term onboarding process (not your over all WIL experience) at your current organization/company, listing both positive and negative feedback (e.g. what you liked, what you didn't like, what you would have liked to see more of, etc.). When speaking about your experience, please refrain from using real names of people in order to protect their privacy and ensure confidentiality. What is an "onboarding process", you may ask? It's the act of integrating and familiarizing a new employee with their new organization and it may come in many forms (i.e. what did the organization do to introduce you to the organization, role, organizational culture, staff, other student employees?). Your onboarding process may or may not have included some version of the following: You were assigned a mentor throughout your co-op/work term You were given a manual/checklist to reference You attended meet-and-greets You participated in team building exercises You received company swag packages Your organization organized and hosted an orientation for all new (student) employees Your manager scheduled weekly touchpoints regarding your progress Important Reminders for Students: Participation is optional. You must submit individual answers and are therefore not permitted to work in teams. Please make your "team name" your first and last name. Participation on this project counts as one discussion board submission for your WIL course. Student submissions must be: A minimum of one paragraph A maximum of one page, single-spaced

Student Employee Onboarding Program Development

The onboarding process sets the tone for a student who is a new employee at Seneca. Seneca’s goal is to develop an onboarding program or orientation that will welcome and excite our new student employees and help them succeed during their co-op/work term/summer job at Seneca. We also want to make our hiring and onboarding experience more aligned with industry best practices. This Riipen project provides an experiential learning opportunity for students to analyze Seneca’s current onboarding program and develop an updated student-centered program that aligns with our goals, requirements, organizational culture to make a lasting positive impact on new student employees. To accomplish this, we believe students should focus on: Reviewing Seneca’s current employee onboarding program (Employee Orientation website) Researching and analyzing industry best practices for a student employee onboarding program or student employee orientation Brainstorming creative, effective and efficient onboarding practices we could incorporate Your onboarding student employee program recommendations may or may not include: · Being assigned a mentor · Student employee orientation day · Internal networking events · A manual/checklist for reference · And more! Project Deliverables: A report detailing research and findings on Seneca’s existing employee onboarding program and industry best practices, with recommendations of a framework for a student employee onboarding or orientation program A presentation or video reviewing insights and recommendations

CCM741 - PR plan - Schools of English and Liberal Studies

Our department launched a new branding video in the Fall of 2018. The goal of this video was to help students understand the value of their general education courses, and inspire them to pick appropriately. We would like to make the video's message more widely known, in order to improve student experience. We hope that this will improve public awareness of our values and social mission. To achieve this, we need to: Conduct qualitative and quantitative research Your research report must include the following sections: · Cover Page · Executive Summary · Literature Review · Method(s) · Results · Discussion or Ramifications or Recommendations · Appendices Develop a public relations strategy including recommendations on channels to use, media outlets to approach, compelling stories, and materials needed. Your PR plan must include the following sections: · Executive Summary · Situation Analysis · Research Summary · Objectives · Audience identification/target · Key messages · Strategies · Communication Tactics · Schedule · Budget · Evaluation plan Create sample materials to provide through our own channels, including turning testimonials into compelling stories and developing a press release. Our long-term goals are to create and maintain social media content that can support our brand. We hope to receive insights into an effective PR strategy including channel recommendations and a roll-out plan with a suggested budget. Materials that can be used or customized by our PR team would also be an asset. We are looking for groups of 4 CCM741 students to work with the Chairs of the Schools of English and Liberal Studies.
