I am an undergraduate student at McMaster University with a passion for understanding human behaviour. With over two collective years of experience as a research assistant in various labs, I have gained an expertise in data collection, data entry, and statistical analysis. Using these skills, I have contributed to the publications of two articles in highly respected peer-reviewed journals.
This year, I am continuing to build my portfolio by gaining experience with Photoshop, Adobe XD and HTML. In the future, I aspire to apply my knowledge of human cognition to optimize product designs that will best serve my community.

Analyzing Industry Data
Number of individual positions: 1 We would like to take on a student to help us fill out our data base that tracks key metrics about companies that operate in the insurance industry. We want to know things like: what part of the insurance industry companies take care of, what partners these firms have in insurance, etc. Through a deep dive of our industry/market, we hope to identify key market trends to assist in our go-forward plans. We want to look at for trends. It is important for us to know where the most promising innovation exists or which areas are slowing down, so that we can act accordingly. We believe that there is enough industry data available to complete a study of our sector. It would be extremely helpful for a student group to look at our industry, identify key trends of growth, stagnation and decline. We are open to all information that seems appropriate and valuable. Using these findings, we would like a detailed and researched report on the market trends that will mean the most to the future of our business.
BubblersApp MVP: Research and Data Analytics
Two individual positions available We need to find out how pandemic support apps work and what how people want to use them. You will be asked to deep dive into this whole area and enlighten us! You will be working closely with the whole team and the project manager. The plan is to build in an iterative and agile way, demonstrating progress on a weekly basis over an 8 week duration. Onboarding a small group of dedicated trialists as we go. The whole development process will be very creative, exploratory, evolutionary and interactive with one to two Zoom calls per week. This BubblersApp MVP project will be the first phase and then we will have the BubblersApp Launch project to follow it in another 8 week stint. Initially we will be adding user profiles, pandemic metrics/graphs and a health passport. All data will be hosted in a Hasura instance, which will present the data as a GraphQL API. We will then build out the interface in the Kendraio framework (see below). Requirements Being able to work in a team is a must. Attention to detail is a must. Some experience with research (both desk research and customer research like interviews/surveys) will be useful. Also, being able to synthesise actionable insights from the information you gather. We will use Google Drive Docs and Sheets extensively. See the current BubblersApp folder. When you come to the interview make sure you have already signed up to Linear , GitHub , Google , LastPass , Zoom , using your own Gmail/email address. You will need to tell us what this is. We will sign you up to our Slack channel. Kendraio framework Kendraio App is a general framework for creating applications. Kendraio was created to service the creative/music industry to enable easy asset and rights management both locally and on third-party platforms. But what we've ended up creating is a generic data browser that plugs into remote APIs and enables highly configurable interfaces to be built. And we'll use this framework as the basis of this project. Please check out these links before accepting this mission: Kendraio App demo , Kendraio App on GitHub , Kendraio App documentation , Kendraio App website . As you create this project your feedback will influence the direction and capabilities of the Kendraio framework. Wellbeing This is a short and rapid project. Being able to flag difficulties quickly is vital for success. Team and individual wellbeing is paramount. We aim to have zero stress in this project by us all flagging potentially stressful situations early and quickly, and creating a relaxed and stress-free work environment. Emotional awareness, emotional intelligence and authenticity: listening to our gut reactions and feelings will help us recognise when we are getting stressed. The intention is not to be a 'self help group' but to treat each member of the team as a human being with all the associated complexities of not being a robot! ;-) Related roles/projects Other roles related to this project are: BubblersApp MVP: Brand Identity and Graphic Design BubblersApp MVP: Project Management BubblersApp MVP: Research and Data Analytics BubblersApp MVP: Outreach and Fundraising BubblersApp MVP: App Development
Data Analysis & Reporting for Positive Social Change
Positions available: 2 individual students NOTICE: We are no longer accepting applications for the spring semester. You are welcome to apply if you wish to work in the summer/fall. With the COVID-19 pandemic, funding has been tight and we are spread too thin to get the data cleaning, screening, and analysis (as well as report writing if interested?) done for multiple research projects that are currently pending analysis of data. We’d like students to assist Dr. Edwards in helping clean up and analyze our datasets to draw helpful insights and make graphics, reports, and other media that will allow us to share our findings. From this analysis, we hope to share insights from our data that can help inspire and promote positive social change. The data sets in-hand currently include items relating to the COVID-19 pandemic impact on mental health and wellbeing, teachers, workers, and more (sorry, no biological data!). Students need to have access to either SPSS or MaxQDA, or will need to be able to purchase a student subscription (approx $50 USD for 6-months access) to either upon starting the internship. Each student will be assigned to assist Dr. Edwards on a single dataset/project. Students will collaborate with Dr. Edwards primarily via Slack, text, and video calls (Jit.si, Google Meet, and/or Zoom may be used - we will provide the link). Students need to be self-motivated and are required to practice professional behaviors and soft skills such as communication, time management, and teamwork in the following ways: 1) to touch base 1-2 times per week via Slack with Dr. Edwards to provide status updates on work, if stuck, on what. Providing screenshots is very helpful. 2) if stuck or needing clarification, to be willing to notify Dr. Edwards as soon as possible. If a live call is needed, student will work with her assistant to schedule a live call to resolve in a timely manner.
