Bio

I am Fahmid Hasan, a second-year mechanical engineering student at Ryerson University. Currently working part-time as a virtual tutor, while also continuing to enrich my learning via online courses and resources.

My passion to become a mechanical/mechatronics engineer originates from my desire to challenge myself, my passion for problem-solving, and an interest in an industry that is forever growing. My hopes are to one day take part in work that will positively impact the lives of many people around the world.

I always make certain that I tackle each and every new problem with a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and a positive attitude!

Brand Identity and Graphic Design

This project is flexible on how many students work on it.I sold my last company three years ago; it was a manufacturer of Point of Purchase displays. I started the company and ran it for 33 years while working with some of the largest consumer brands in North America. My experience includes brand standards, print production, new product launch, re-imaging existing brands, skilled at communicating with designers ( I had an in-house art department with four designers and two engineers).I have since started a new company that is relying on contract manufacturers to our products. These brands will be are being sold direct in a B2C online, and our focus is tech products to make mundane daily tasks easier and more convenient. Our products are sourced from manufacturers that build exclusively for private label importers like myself. We are tasked with creating our own brand identity for the product. This is an ongoing process; we add products regularly. We are looking for teams that can help amplify what makes us unique and create better messaging for our different product brands. This would include identifying areas of improvement and developing a plan for better promotion and brand awareness. This project may combine research, data analysis, graphic design w/ Sketch or Adobe XD, prototyping, one-page creations and more!We believe this project will require:Research to define our unique brand position and create consistent promotional messagingLogo and/or Name Proposal that highlights brand awareness and brand positioningA branding guideUsing tools like PhotoShop - Video editing programs like Camtasia-layout programs like Canva to design prototypes that can be implemented into our marketing collateral. We will give you access to organizational assets to support this project, such as personnel, website analytics, sales and brand collateral, and more. We can also suggest names of competitors and comparators to research.

Hardware Development for Wearable Electronic in Beauty

We are an early-stage startup focused on developing wearable technologies for beauty, currently looking to launch two products: (1) a customizable necklace and (2) press-on nails with LEDs powered through RFID. Customizable eInk necklace:We have developed a basic PCB prototype that requires further optimization. Students will receive all the documentation from the current prototype and will be asked to optimize the system so it can receive the images through NFC at a much faster rate. LED press-on nails powered with RFID:We are looking to develop active RFID bracelets that can light up the NFC-powered LEDs on our press-on nails. The bracelets would have an on/off/intermittent mode and a rechargeable battery. The range of the RFID should be sufficient to reach the fingernails. Alternative versions to the bracelets, such as rings, can be considered based on a study of the range and power of the RFID signal. * NDA's and waivers will be required from the interns undertaking this project.

Personal projects

NEWHACKS UofT Hackathon - Javascript, HTML, CSS
November 7 - November 8

Using coding knowledge and understanding of cryptocurrencies, a cryptocurrency trust wallet prototype app was created. This software was able to store private and public keys and interact with the blockchain to monitor user’s balance.

Arduino RC Car - Arduino, Solidworks, Prusa Slicer
August 8 - September 18

Using Solidworks as well as Prusa Slicer 3D printing, individual components of the RC car were designed and then printed. Implemented Arduino code to optimize the movement of the car, allowing it to follow solid lines as well as automated object avoidance using onboard sensors. Bluetooth connection modules were also added to the car to allow use through a custom-designed phone app to control the movement of the car. Construction of the app was done through MIT App Inventor, where the layout included a forward, backward, left, right, and rotate function.

Arduino BOE-BOT Navigation - PBASIC
October 28 - January 25

Designed, built, and wired BASIC Stamp boe-bot with breadboard-based circuits that use touch. Using light-sensitive photoresistors as well as infrared lights, the navigation was controlled. The distance was determined using a monitoring system, and whiskers were used to aid in navigation. Using the PBASIC language, the robot's BASIC Stamp brain was programmed where each line performed its own task.

3D Printing/CNC Milling/Manufacturing - Solidworks, Autodesk Fusion 360, REVIT, CATIA
September 4 - Current

Experimented with different 3D printing and CNC milling software, including Solidworks, CATIA, Fusion 360, and REVIT, to gain exposure to different software and dictate the best one for either CNC milling or 3D printing. Utilized G-code programming and knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) for the design for 10-15 projects throughout high school and first-year university. Developed workshop skills including casting, machining, and joining using tools such as table saw, soldering iron, table and belt sander, jointer, and much more through projects and university club involvement.
