- What is the main goal for this project?

Our company recommends the most relevant products based on the image that the online shopper is looking at. The application recognizes the product item on the image and recommends based on similarity the most relevant products from our database. We recommend more sustainable alternative products for online shoppers so they are able to make shopping decisions that are better for our planet.
We would like to collaborate with students to apply the latest artificial intelligence (AI) techniques to our existing dataset. Students will develop an AI / ML model related to any of the aforementioned applications.
This will involve several different steps for the students, including:
- Recommending relevant datasets on fashion product images to train the model.
- Recommending existing recommendation models to try on our product data.
- Developing an AI / ML model that provides unique outcomes or insights into our data in Jupyter Notebook.
- What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

By the end of the project, students should demonstrate:
- Understanding of the datasets on available on the internet datasets that can be used to train AI models
- Understanding of the latest AI / ML techniques in Deep Learning
- Identification of ways in which AI / ML can be applied to our company
Bonus steps would include:
- Providing multiple versions of potential models
Final deliverables should include
- A final report on the datasets to train the problem and current implementations of recommendation models based on image similarity, recommendations on model development and further data gathering.
- Source materials such as code and workbooks.

Students will connect directly with us for mentorship throughout the project. We will be able to provide answers to questions such as:
- Our data schema and product information.
- Current industry standard approaches to AI / ML. Ability to be mentored by AI researchers and PhDs.
- Code review and suggestions for further development in the area.
- Input on choices, problems or anything else the students might encounter.
