Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

We would like to refresh and update for our organization's website. We have an informative website that also connects to our social media and we want to set it up so that what we post on social media platforms will appear in our website instantly.

The website will be built using Wordpress and students will receive access to our admin accounts.

The students will be able to access Google Analytics to set up traffic measuring tools.

Posting content on the website.

Make sure the website stays updated including the plugins during the internship period.

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

Students will be working on the following:

  • Provide 3 examples of templates that will reflect our brand and industry for us to review and move forward with.
  • After the best template is approved by us, you will work on redesigning the website to this new standard. We will provide you with all of the content including pictures, videos and text.
  • Creating network links between our new website and social media using Wordpress plugins.
  • After the website is redesigned, reference the website directory so that we can use Google Analytics to measure the traffic.
  • During the internship period, the student will be expected to post any content to the website as directed by the content manager.
  • Provide training on updating and maintaining the site.
How will you support learners in completing the project?

Mentorship

  • showing respect for the student, and maintaining a confidential relationship;
  • acting as a sounding board and being open to new ideas;
  • providing honest feedback and the chance for the student to reflect and be challenged;
  • being available for regular meetings.

Supervision

  • Orienting the student to his or her role in the project and the standards of behavior expected.
  • Keeping communication lines open, clear, and constructive.
  • Setting a good example.
  • Outlining procedures clearly - assume nothing.
  • Being firm, yet flexible.
  • Making student employees feel important and needed.
  • Addressing problems (or potential problems) as they arise.
