Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

The Hart House Hip Hop Education Exhibition Researcher & Program Facilitator will work closely with Hart House program staff to provide content research, recommendations for exhibition curation, artistic vision and ideation around complementary exhibition programming. The Exhibition Researcher will be responsible for contributing to the development and execution of a newly created Hip Hop visual art display. This exhibition will focus on the history of women in Hip Hop with a particular vision to amplify and honour Canadian women in Hip Hop behind and in front of the Hip Hop scene.


The Exhibition Researcher & Program Facilitator will be mentored by staff in a supportive environment that will include, content experts and an opportunity for peer to peer learning and engagement with other work study students. The Exhibition Researcher & Program Facilitator will be guided through a process of program and exhibition design planning and execution with work focusing on 3 main areas:

  1. Generating independent research on specific content directed by staff to create a body of work that can be reviewed and presented for final presentation; 
  2. Co-facilitating additional programming through social media efforts and preparing materials for digital display and;
  3. Supporting this initiative through the sourcing or creation of graphic assets.


This role may require the candidate to work both in-person and in virtual settings. Candidate must be results driven and able to work independently and productively while also taking constructive direction from staff and working well as a contributing team member with both staff and students that are connected to the project.


What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?
  • Research content and prepare exhibition content for curation 
  • Draft exhibition curatorial slides
  • Participate and contribute to team meetings
  • Assist in the development of exhibition programming
  • Create and develop social media assets and strategies
  • Review/create graphics for exhibition
  • Provide a final program brief and overview, including learning outcomes and program objectives, specific to Summer 2023 program
  • Complete a final report, including recommendations on future initiative.
How will you support learners in completing the project?

Hip Hop Education team members will provide ongoing mentorship, schedule weekly check-in meetings, and ad hoc meetings as needed to support students in their efforts. Team members will also review work on an ongoing basis and provide feedback. Student will work directly with a designated Hart House staff member as well as with work study students.
