Project scope
- What is the main goal for this project?
-
Over our career paths, we run into barriers that can make our professional life more difficult. We would like students to build a digital information hub that collects relevant data from users and use it to connect women to relevant information and resources that they need (e.g., employment lawyer, job board, organization to help women get on boards, TED talk, news article, mentor from our database), sometimes before they know they need it.
We would like to collaborate with students to produce a design prototype informed by real customer input and feedback and get as close to development/launch as possible by end of the project.
This will involve several different steps for the students, including:
- Product design and mapping
- Conducting user interviews and research on our industry, our target market, and desired website features.
- Designing a wireframe prototype for our website and mapping out user interactions.
- Documenting the design process and any additional insights that emerge.
- Testing the prototype with customers and surveying for feedback.
- Refining design ideas with input from experts and customers.
- Prototyping multiple versions of a design that includes the desired website features.
- What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?
-
By the end of the project, students should demonstrate:
- Understanding of our industry, our target market, and desired features
- Development of a prototype
- Verification of the prototype and improvements based on feedback
Bonus steps would include:
- Getting to the point of a launchable product

- How will you support learners in completing the project?
-
Students will connect directly with us for mentorship throughout the project. We will be able to provide answers to questions such as:
- Our vision, mission, and case for change
- Content for the digital information hub
- Women to test products and website design
- Our customer and industry insights
- Input on choices, problems or anything else the students might encounter.
