Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

We distribute an IoT sensor for tracking impression in the Out-of-Home advertising space. The product we are currently using is an off the shelf router that we have repurposed.


The manufacturer has provided us with documentation on the signal strength. We need to verify their results and test the sensor in a few other scenarios that were not relevant to them at the time of designing the router.


What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

Learners will need to set up a controlled test using various cell phones (Different Brands and generations) and blue tooth devices.


We will provide our hardware for testing.

Identify the Mac address of the phone or bluetooth device being tested. Observe the signal strength recorder on sensor to determine the distance between the sensor and the device. Repeat numerous times with various devices.


Step two will be to take this into the field and test under a number of different situation to determine the net affect. For example, how is the signal stregth affected by windows, wooden walls, concrete walls, rain, etc.

How will you support learners in completing the project?

We are happy to provide direction from a CTO with 20+ years of experience in the space. We will provide access to our hardware and systems to complete the required testing.
